Based on the folk tune "Billy Boy," this arrangement is aimed at middle school flutists. It is in D major with a range of almost two octaves, from low E to D above the staff. There are three verses. The first verse is a statement of the melody by the flute with a counter-melody in the accompaniment. The second has the flute playing a descant while the piano plays the melody. The third verse introduces sixteenth notes into the flute part and is a variation on the melody.
I wrote this as an adjunct to my flute method book (coming soon to TPT). It is a bit challenging for my flute players who have been studying for two years.
