Students will create 2 reports for this project:
The first is a situation where the probability can be calculated. Examples include:
*What are the chances of guessing on a 4 question multiple choice test (with possible answers a, b ,c, and d) and getting 0 right?
*If I pressed 20 piano keys what are the chances of 3 C#’s?
The second is a situation where the probability is defined empirically and the student must lookup the value. Examples include:
*What percentage of flights end in a plane crash?
*What percentage of high school basketball players make it the the NBA?
The zipped file includes:
*Project Description and Grading Rubric
*2 example student projects
*2 MS-Excel files that were used to product the histogram for the example projects
*An example of an article source that could be used for the second report.
The project description is in MS-Word because it contains instructions for students to present their reports to the class. If you do want to have presentations simply delete this section.
