This 4 station activity gets kids moving, has them use their hands, their devices and their creativity. This gets them working with the terms and with the material beyond a surface knowledge of it.
Station 1 is making analogies for parts of the neuron or how a neuron fires.
Station 2 is making Play-Doh neurons and labeling.
Station 3 is constructing a chart on Neurotransmitters and what they do/diseases/etc...
Station 4 is creating neuron superhero characters.
If students have read about a neuron, it is a great way to focus on STRUCTURE and neurotransmitters. (I do not focus on the ins/outs of how a neuron fires all that specifically.)
For AP - you can elaborate on how a neuron fires with lecture. For general psych, this is PERFECT and does the job well without being totally overwhelming.
