This product is FREE with purchase of the "Biodiversity Game: Monsters in the Forest"!
This workbook corresponds with "Biodiversity Game: Monsters in the Forest." This resource uses the game to become a valuable learning tool. Students must analyze what they have learned about biodiversity to predict and later reflect on the outcome of the game. The workbook reinforces what students have already learned about biodiversity in the classroom with upper level thinking questions. This workbook also includes a warmup to start your class before you begin the game.
In my classroom, this game not only produced lots of laughs, but provided an excellent illustration of biodiversity within an ecosystem that I referred back to often as an example in later class periods.
This game consists of two simulations. Each student during each simulation will have a card with a monster. The teacher lurks about the room as a disease. Some monsters are immune to the disease, and some are not. If implemented well (that means dramatically by the teacher),this game can have an element of suspense that will keep your students watching and listening.
For this lesson/game to be successful, you as the teacher must embrace the silliness and craziness of this game. If you are having fun, the students will have fun too. The more ridiculous you are, the easier it will be to break down that “cool barrier” and get your students laughing. Be dramatic. Be fun. And your students will never forget this game!
