Biography book report in the form of an Obituary.
Writing an obituary is a great way for students to do writing about a biography book they just read about. This obituary form could also be used to do a write-up about a person they need to research on.
This writing Assignment is meant to be a writing activity that does not take an entire school year, but rather a book report or writing activity that demonstrates a level of research and/or biography reading and then moving on.
It could also be part of a writing center that features some biographies of famous people for students to write.
What you will notice about this writing assignment is that students are told specific elements (written as a checklist) in an obituary that will help them with their writing of the short biography.
Students will enjoy and find meaning in writing a short obituary for someone who passed away.
This book report and writing activity was created by Jody Weissler for the Teachtopia Education Netwrok.
