My second-graders loved this activity for our unit on biographies!
After introducing biographies, I told my class that they were going to have a chance to write mini-biographies about some of my friends. I gathered phone numbers of my friends and family members and put them with this page of directions next to the phone in my room.
We came up with five questions as a class:
1. When and where were you born?
2. What is your family like?
3.What do you do when you are not at school?
4. What are your favorite things?
5. What are your goals?
I put those questions in a worksheet. When it was their turn to make a phone call, they took their worksheet to the phone and made the call. I had my students go in pairs, just for moral support and for time's sake. It took about two weeks to get through everyone, but I just made it a center. They loved it!
