A unique twist on the good ol' biography project! The project guides students through in-depth research, thoughtful outlining and composition of an essay (biography), creative and fun crafting of a carnival cutout, and an engaging presentation.
The students love this project and it definitely gets them smiling (and laughing)! This is also the perfect project to include parents on. Invite them to the presentations. They will totally eat it up!
It draws on too many Common Core standards to count and can easily be tweaked to suit any specialty unit. Are you studying Western Expansion, the American Revolution, or great minds in math or science? Ask the students to choose eminent or outstanding people within that topic or unit! Or, you can leave it open ended! Easily usable with fourth through eighth graders!
The download includes a project overview, detailed grading rubric based on the Standards Based Grading System (which easily converts to the A-F scale), note taking pages, an essay outline, and instructions on how to create the carnival cutout. All documents are easy to read, organized, and aesthetically pleasing with fun, kid-friendly fonts!
