Students select a person to research. At home they read about the person using 2 sources. They take notes on note cards about: the person's childhood, family, work/accomplishments, and late years/death (or another category if the person is still alive). Students then prepare a speech to present to the class about their person. A simple scoring guide for the speech is included. Directions and deadlines are clearly stated for students to help them be prepared. Parents are involved be being informed about the kind of help it is OK to give and they sign and return a form indicating they are aware of the project.
