Trading cards have always been popular with kids. Football, baseball, and now Pokemon cards have been read, enjoyed, and then traded. I decided to use this popular idea and modify it to fit our month-long biography unit. In guided reading each group reads about a famous person from our history and then fills out a Biography Trading Card. The front of the card is just like a baseball card, containing an illustration of the person. The back is filled with "Facts," such as information about the person's childhood, hardships faced, and then any accomplishments. Groups then share and trade their completed cards to learn about other famous people. This project is a class favorite each year!
