I created this lab to use with my high school biology students.
The lab has students use a microscope, toothpick, glass slides, and methylene blue to scrape cheek cells, stain them, and look at them under a microscope. My students really enjoy this lab and love seeing *their* cells.
The back page of the lab has some analysis questions based on the lab for the students to complete.
This lab corresponds to the following Georgia Performance Standard for Biology:
SB1. Students will analyze the nature of the relationships between structures and functions in living cells.
a. Explain the role of cell organelles for both prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells, including the cell membrane, in maintaining homeostasis and cell reproduction.
