This powerpoint contains several concepts for a Biology I high school course. The concepts can be broken down into smaller lessons or left as is for a large chapter lesson. Concepts include terminology for genetics and punnett squares. There are links to websites that have online activities and lessons for the same concepts. This includes blood typing and a link to a website that has practice questions on blood typing. The powerpoint moves into chromosome mutations and karyotyping. Lesson includes a link to a online activity where students perform a karyotype and diagnose patients. Lesson moves into tracking human traits in pedigrees. I have a link for a pedigree activity that you can find on a free website. I have included in this a link to a video on Albinism. The human heredity has students predict the possible genotypes and phenotypes from scenarios given to them. Some of the disorders include Sickle Cell Disease, and Cystic Fibrosis. Video links on these disorders are included in the powerpoint. Sex-linked Disorders/Traits are included as well on this powerpoint. There are several practice problems for the students to do based on the genetics within the presentation. The last concept covered is on performing punnett squares with dihybrid traits. This is a large powerpoint presentation that can be modified or scaled based on class needs.
