This Powerpoint is for a High School Biology I class (for Jr. High as well) and covers material on the scientific method and characteristics of living things. This was one of the first lessons I cover for Biology I with the old standards. Presentation has several links to images and video clips that can be used as examples of topics/concepts within the lesson. Many of these video clips are no longer than 4 minutes long. I have included notes for each slide of topics of discussion that I use. The two week instructional time is based on a high school 4x4 schedule and is dependent on the number of activities used within the lesson. Activities which can be implemented includes graphing, developing a scientific procedure, identifying variables within a study.
Also included in this bundle are two versions of a quiz with answer keys and rubric. I use one as a make-up quiz for students who miss class. Also included are guided notes on the characteristic of living things and another one on the scientific method. The exam in this bundle has 25 multiple choice items, three fill in the blanks and four open response items on the scientific method. Key and rubric for the exam is also included. A lab activity on the sense of smell and its influence on the sense of taste is included. Lessons are based on a 4x4 high school schedule. My students use the Biology Coloring Workbook for the anatomy and structure of Biology concepts. This product is in a Word Format and items can be edited as you see fit.
