Product Description
Save $ by purchasing this bundle. ELEVEN of my popular resources are included!

When planning for labs, you must consider the materials, space, content and objectives of your school. The resources made available in this bundle are what I find to be appropriate to teach the content as well as build upon skills such as investigation, analysis, problem solving and data collection.

This resource comes with a curriculum guide which gives the objectives for the expected outcome, the TEKS and the NGSS standards. The guide also gives suggested times to use the labs and activities. Each of these resources are sold as individual items in my store. Click the links below to view each them.

Muscle Fatigue Lab
This is a fun hands-on lab on muscle fatigue. Students work through this lab with a partner. You will need clothespins and stopwatches for each group. Students will go through the lab and then answer questions and draw a graph.

Yeast Lab
This lab is designed to give students practice in several areas: scientific method, lab safety and following procedures, accurate measuring, writing lab reports, collecting data, and collaborative work. Students will need prior introduction to scientific method, enzymes, cellular respiration, and pH. The entire project can count for at least two grades and can be split in two periods or, one 90-minute period.

Fun with Food Lab/ {Biomolecule Indicator Tests}
Students are more engaged in studying biomolecules once it's known they are the main component in our food. Students will have opportunities to work collaboratively to measure, apply lab safety knowledge, follow scientific method, identify lab equipment, record and analyze data. A lab report can be written for any of the tests, or have students generate a report for one food in all four tests, if you choose.

Students should have prior introduction to biomolecules and lab safety procedures. While any foods can be tested, it is very simple to test a common staple lunch: peanut butter, jelly, bread and an apple.

Lab Safety Activity
Knowledge of lab safety and lab equipment is essential for every science classroom. SEE-SAY-SWAP is an activity that can be done after the teacher has lectured over safety and equipment. For high school students, this activity can be done to see what the students already know. This is an interactive activity that allows students to move around the room and collaborate. There are teacher notes/suggestions, 28 SWAP Cards, and an interactive notebook page included.

Measurement Lab: Vitruvian Man
Science and math come together in this lab/activity! This lab demonstrates the importance of accuracy and practice in measuring and is a real-life example of setting up ratios. Students practice making accurate measurements to test the claims made by Vitruvius about the proportions of the human body, in the year 1487. It is a fun lab that allows students to collaborate while the teacher is in the role of facilitator.

Nature of Science/Scientific Method
This lesson will introduce your students to the thought process that is the foundation of the nature of science. It relates real-life examples to how scientists work on and solve problems.

Starch Lab
This easy, fun lab will demonstrate the dynamics of diffusion and osmosis and build confidence in students’ ability to read and follow instructions. Very low-prep and easy clean-up. Critical thinking will apply as students answer analysis questions at the end.I only facilitate…let them struggle with reading and following instructions. I don’t answer any question that they can find by reading the provided instructions.

Microscope Activity
Teach the microscope. This helps students visualize the difference in cell types and helps them appreciate just how small the cell really is! I have used this many times. It builds confidence in following instructions and employs cooperative learning.

Chromatography Lab
This lab goes well with a photosynthesis lesson. Students will see there are other pigments, besides chlorophyll, found in a leaf and answer analysis questions at the end. Easy setup. You will get a PDF with the lab procedures and questions. You will also receive a PowerPoint with pictures and a video that helps show the students how to extract chlorophyll from a leaf.

Catalase Lab
This is the Catalase Lab which demonstrates enzyme function. In this zip folder, you will find teacher notes and pictures in one PDF. In another PDF, you will find the student lab procedures.
Enjoy!

Homeostatis Lab
Purpose of Lab:
To understand how feedback mechanisms work to maintain body temperature or homeostasis.

This fun lab is designed to demonstrate a feedback mechanism that is part of maintaining homeostasis. Students should have prior knowledge of components of a feedback mechanism. This would be a good opportunity to practice lab safety, as well. Easy and Fun!!!
