Teaching DNA replication is not an easy thing. A lot of students have difficulties understanding the ins and outs of DNA replication.
In this assignment, the students are to 1) provide a diagram and 2) write and describe the stages in 4 different stages of DNA replication. Each stage or "frame" of DNA replication is provided and prompted with a word bank.
Frame 2: The start of DNA replication
In this frame, the students are to talk about the start of DNA replication with words such as
DNA replication, chromosome, helicase, enzyme, unwinds, nucleotides, template strand, adenine (A), cytosine(C), guanine (G), thymine (T).
There are 4 frames in total with the 5th one as an extra frame.
This assignment prevents the students from copy and pasting exact processes and provides them with the opportunity to complete the task in their own words.
