This project, created by Lindsey DeLuca, introduces students to the concepts of healthy eating, biochemistry and nutrition.
Students first create a rubric-based "book" explaining the functions of the four macromolecules: carbohydrates, lipids, nucleic acids, and proteins. Then, students keep a food journal of what they eat for a time period. Students analyze the food journal based on their recommonded values of each nutrient, and then get evaluated on their analysis. Finally, students act as expert "nutritionists" and they have a friend or family keep a food journal that they analyze.
