In this project students will be creating a jumbo travel brochure highlighting one of the world’s major biomes – giving facts, displaying food webs, showing pictures, discussing human impacts, and citing examples of where their biomes are found in the world (among other things). This project spans several days, touches on several ecosystem topics, and is sure to keep your students engaged as they flex their creative muscles in making their brochures. After the projects are complete students will peruse their classmates’ brochures and search for the answers to questions that have been prepared about the world’s various biomes. By the end of this project students will have a better understanding of not only their biome, but Earth’s other biomes as well.
Included in this download is a brief PowerPoint introducing biomes with some great visuals, an instruction sheet and grading rubric for the project (which is set up to double as a sample brochure when you fold it up), a guide sheet to help students in planning out their brochures, a checklist for pacing themselves when they are actually making it, documents to facilitate the “biome brochure swap and solve” day at the end of the project, a biome matching quiz, and a teacher guide to outline how I use these materials in my own classroom.
Note: My school provides very simple poster boards for student use which I take advantage of with this project. If you don’t have access to poster boards to create the brochures on then you will either need to make the students responsible for their own poster boards or adapt the project to be done on smaller sizes.

Included in this download are the following documents:

1. Biomes Introductions (PowerPoint)
2. Biomes Matching Quiz (word and PDF Formats)
3. Biome Brochure Instructions – Brochure Style (word and PDF formats)
4. Student Biome Selector (PowerPoint)
5. Biome Brochure Student Guide Sheet (word and PDF formats)
6. Biome Brochure Checklist (word and PDF formats)
7. Biome Brochure Questions and Answers (word and PDF formats)
8. Biome Brochure Scavenger Swap and Solve (word and PDF formats)
9. Biome Brochure Swap Makeup (word and PDF formats)
10. Biome Brochure Teacher Guide (word)
