This mural project provides the opportunity for in-depth research of a biome. Students paint a mural including images of plants and animals that live in their chosen biome, including their common and scientific names, as well as abiotic factors. Once complete, and hanging on the classroom walls gallery style, students do several activities where they explore all of the biomes using their classmates' murals, including identifying climate, herbivores, carnivores, omnivores, and producers. Students also identify symbiotic relationships, and create a food web with the plants and animals of a biome other than their own. Students are highly engaged, it's an enjoyable lesson for the teacher, and the finished product is beautiful.
