Students "buy in" to this project right away because of the "sales" aspect. Some students have won the silent auction by selling a trip to what at first would seem like a "hard sell" biome, such as a hydrothermal vent or the desert. These student teams did a great job with the sales aspect while also integrating the necessary science content. Students are motivated to begin researching right away no matter what biome they draw. All students take notes on the provided note template during each presentation so that they are learning from each presentation.

This project is easy to manage from the teacher end and all grading is done in class, nothing to take home to grade! :)

(Optional: Biome Exam and Answer Key included)

Student teams design a "5 minute" sales pitch through a video or PowerPoint presentation. When all student teams have presented, students bid on the trip of their choice with a silent auction.

Students are very motivated by the concept of integrating the "sales" and "silent auction" into the project. They work in small teams of 2-3 to research their assigned biome and then compete with other teams to "sell" a trip to that destination.
