This project is designed for students to research one of the six main biomes: desert, grassland, temperate deciduous forest, tropical rainforest, taiga, or tundra. It allows either (1) students to choose their own biome or (2) the biomes to be assigned by the teacher. With the Biome Vacation Project, students must create a presentation about their biome as if they were selling a vacation package to someone.
The project includes the following pages:
(1) Introduction and project description
(2) Project requirement list
(3) Planning page
(4) Rubric (optional of course)
I have also included guiding questions to help students think about what type of information they should include. In addition, I provided several useful and appropriate websites to help students with their research.
I have used this project for several years and it always yields creative, fun results. You can have students present their final project as well. This project description does not include a specific type of presentation for students to create. When I have used this project, I have given students options of types of presentations they can create (since my students all have their own devices). Options include: Powerpoint/Keynote, posters, brochures, Prezis, website, news report, etc. You can tailor it to you needs.
This project description does not require any preparation. Download it, print it out (or share it electronically) and see their wheels turn!
