The Zoo Exhibit Project is a fun and creative way for students to practice research skills while learning about the six major land biomes of the world. The project begins with whole class instruction to introduce the six main land biomes and other vocabulary words students will need for the project. Then students are placed in groups and begin the reading, researching and writing note cards. After the research the students write paragraphs about the animals and plants in the biome. To tie it all together, each group designs a map for their section of the town zoo.
The project is written to be used with third graders who are just beginning to learn research skills, but can be easily adapted for upper grades with more developed research and writing skills.
