"He" and "she" pronouns can be tricky for preschooler and kindergarteners. The children I work with like to play this file folder game and look at the different birds. This is a great activity for small groups or one-on-one. I hope your students will enjoy it too.
☆48 birds/objects related to birds
☆Large file label for the front of the folder
☆Small file folder label for the tab
To Make: Print the product. For greater durability, print off on cardstock. Glue the boy and the girl to the inside of the file. Cut out the labels. Glue the large label to the front of the file folder. Glue the smaller label to the side tab. Laminate the file folder open and glue the bird cards. Cut out the cards. I hole punch the cards and keep them together with an o-ring.
To Play: Have the children children pick a card and put it on the square of one of the children and then they say the sentence. (E.g. He saw a flamingo). Alternate: Have the children describe the bird that they have chosen (e.g., Flamingo. She has a tall pink bird with skinny legs.
