This unit is over 60 pages of feathered fun! This unit contains 4 ELA centers and 4 math centers, a writing organizer and cute bird craft. ALL of the lessons are aligned with the kindergarten common core standards!
Students will observe hidden CVC pictures on birds. Students will stretch the sounds and record the CVC word on the recording sheet.
Use the differentiated sight word cards for each player. Place one sight word card in each space face down on the board. The player rolls one die. They flip the card over that corresponds to their roll. If they can read the card, they get to keep it. If not, then they keep it on their board.
The first person to clear their board is the winner!
Eat Like A Bird
Students will use bird picture cards to say the word and count the number of phonemes1-4. Students will place the card on the correct nest. Students will complete the follow-up sheet.

Adding new sounds at the beginning of a word to make a new word. These cards can be used with the bird board game.
Brilliant Bird Brains
Students will complete a CAN, HAVE, ARE chart about birds. Students will use this information to write sentence about the various bird fact they know. Students will use the bird craft to make a bird to go with their writing.
A Little Birdie Told Me
Students will use a cute game board to solve simple addition and subtraction problems. Students will roll the dice and move that many spaces. If they land on a bird, they will take a card and solve the addition or subtraction problem. Students will use the recording sheet to show their thinking.
Students will use the smart board to solve various addition and subtraction word problems using duck manipulatives. Students will complete the quack and count recording sheet to show an understanding with the use of pictures and equations.
Home Tweet Home
Print, laminate and cut the cards. Students draw a card, count the tens and ones, and record the number on the re-cording sheet.
Students will use number cards and order by skip counting by tens. Students will complete the follow-up sheet.
