I wanted something special for my students to work on during their birthdays. My thought was something that would give them “a day off” yet still keep them in class and learning. Now I can’t give them the entire day off but I thought if I could have a few special things just for them on their special day… it would work!
This kit includes:
~ The Birthday Song Post-Card sized poster
~ The Birthday Chant Post-Card sized poster
~ Birthday Stationary
~ 3 Pages of Birthday Math Review Fun
~ Birthday Missing Letters
~ Birthday Song Handwriting Page
The Post-Card Sized posters can be placed on your bulletin board or I use them with a document camera so everyone can see the words. Not all of my ELL students know the Birthday Song. This helps them join in without them feeling “dumb” for not knowing. This is the same with the handwriting page. So often we forget its the little things that they need the most.
The Birthday Stationary I use to have them write a letter to themselves on their next birthday. What will they learn? What will they like? What will they have accomplished. When they are done, they put it in an envelope and address it to themselves. I will either give this to their teacher on their birthday the following year or mail it out to them.
