In this packet you will find activities surrounding a food scene from the Javier Bardem movie "Biutiful." It is a fantastic way for your students to experience food vocabulary in context. I only show this clip, which grabs the student's attention without having to show them the entire movie. I also have them research “tortilla de patatas/española” and discuss it's cultural relevance in Spanish society.
-post viewing questions
-Specific teacher directions as to how to present this to the class. (FYI- I usually take a day and 1/2 to complete this. Making the kids "wait" to see the clip really builds suspense and their interest)
Some food vocabulary mentioned:
pescado, hamburguesa, patatas fritas, batido de chocolate, Huevos fritos, salchichas, una tortilla de patatas, natillas y canela.
14:22-17:20 (Chapter 2 on the DVD)
**Note: This activity can be used with any textbook that discusses food vocabulary. Realidades 1 ch 3A or 3B is simply my suggestion since that is the book I use.
