This reader's theater was written for a small group of 4 students. It is about Black Friday which is the day after Thanksgiving. In the script, Dan and his friends are looking forward to Thanksgiving break but Dan thinks the reason why the Friday after Thanksgiving is called Black Friday because it is unlucky. Janet and Jacky set him straight and explain to Dan and Trevor why it is called Black Friday.
Most of the scripts I write are small group reader's theater scripts because the smaller the group, the more often each student gets to speak. This means the students spend more time on task and there are less off task behaviors. Reader's theater is a great way to improve fluency as well as teach other things but it is important that each student get as much reading time in as possible. You will also notice that none of these reader's theaters has any color in it. That is because, when I make copies, I want to save ink and black and white turns out much better. My students love reader's theater and look forward to that time each day. I find it helps reluctant reader's enjoy practicing.
My name is Melanie Whitesides but my store name is Wonbyone and I hope your students enjoy these scripts as much as mine did. If you are looking for more scripts for your groups about Thanksgiving look up some of my others. In fact, this script and 5 others are in a book so you get a better deal. Thank you!
