After reading books or websites about important African Americans, kids select six main events from that person's life to make a timeline, which is created using a website.
This activity could be a very simple one to two hour project, or it could be used in addition to a complete Black History report.
In addition to research skills, your students will get practice determining importance (which life events should be included?), as well as basic computer skills including keyboarding, navigation through websites, cutting and pasting, and formatting a simple Word document.
This activity is also included in my Black History Month Literacy Set for 3rd - 5th graders.
