What educators are saying

My students loved this! It truly was engaging and at-age level! Now, more than ever, it is crucial to teach this.
We have been using this in our daily discussing as we highlight different people during black history month. I love the variety of figures as well.

Description

Black history figures are important to teach in the primary grades. This resource was created with the kindergarten and first-grade classrooms in mind. If you're looking for figures that are not commonly taught, I've included some wonderful men and women.

This unit provides resources to help you introduce and keep your black history learning exciting. This can easily be integrated into your literacy and writing blocks. With this, you'll be able to learn facts about 10 African American historical figures, retain the information, and record learnings. This resource includes a nonfiction book. This book is at the end of the pdf file. You can print it as is and create a book or you can project it. I like to project the page we're discussing each day.

What's included:

  • Facts for each person
  • KWL headers
  • Photographs
  • Anchor chart pieces
  • Student graphic organizers
  • Student book

This packet is great to help with your anchor charts, extending your guided reading lessons, whole group introduction to Black History month, and so much MORE!
