To turn your classroom or home into a temporary 'art exhibition’ of these two artists simply print out the 14 classroom posters andhang the “paintings” in your classroom. During the art observation exercise allowing the students to walk for a few minutes quietly to each painting and take notes of what they see. Students will write down: artist, year, medium and observations. As you continue to study the artist give out the “close observation: sheets and have them document their second look observations and express their opinion about the piece of art. With the print outs/templates and students’ works you can easily create fun booklets by stapling pages together.

Also, if you live close to a museum that exhibits Catlett’s or Biggers' art work I highly recommend going on a field trip to see some originals!

ENJOY!
