Welcome to Art Bursts! A simple way to incorporate art history into the classroom.
This lesson is an Art Burst - Museum edition. Students will observe, discuss, and create. An Art Burst - Museum lesson focuses on a famous work of art and provides
discussion questions to help students become critical thinkers and to gain confidence in expression of ideas.
Instructions are provided for a simple art project to reinforce ideas/art concepts from the discussion.
This lesson includes a power point presentation with the following:
-An overview of the highlighted artist
-An art word of the day
-A digital image of the paintings
-Thought provoking discussion questions with answers included in presenter's notes
-Guidelines for a simple art project
Art materials needed:
crayons - red, yellow, blue
black construction paper
The activity can be completed in 40 minutes. Art Bursts can be used as an interdisciplinary tool by using the artwork as a writing prompt.
Art Bursts adhere to the National Visual Arts Standards set forth by the NAEA.
Art Bursts - Museum lessons can also be supported as an International Baccalaureate lesson.Through discussion of the artwork, students are encouraged to think critically and challenge assumptions.
