Showing evidence is such an important skill for kids to use! These passages are designed to get kids to look back and find the answer in the text. Each passage comes with 5 questions-no prep need! Just print, copy, and give!!
This resource can be used in a number of different ways. You can simply make copies and use in the classroom or you can create what I call “Comp Files” and use as a homework resource. Simply attach the included reading log to one side of a file folder and then include a passage. Students take the comp file home each night and the parents sign off on it…the perfect way for getting in those parent contacts!
My evidence bookmarks are also included in this unit! These bookmarks feature evidence prompts such as “According to the text”, “Based on what I read”, and more!
These passages are written to celebrate Black History Month, but can really be used anytime.
This set of comp files contains 15 nonfiction passages on the following topics:
-Brown v. the Board of Education
-The Underground Railroad
-Booker T. Washington
-Henry Box Brown
