Black History Comprehension Stories, Colored Posters, & Book BUNDLE (A resource to teach children about people and events in African-American History)
Every February our country celebrates the contributions that many African-Americans have made to this country. There are many 1st and achievements that are a part of our nation’s history. These stories teach children about specific people and events in African-American history. For the teacher this resource includes meaningful information about each person to share with your students. After you have shared the information with the students, there is a comprehension worksheet. Each person is introduced with a short story. To build comprehension the students have to fill in the blanks using the short story.
Please note that these products are sold separately in my store, so if you buy these resources you don't need to but the other ones.
After using the resource Black History Comprehension Stories I have included a book to extend the lesson. You will find the sentence pattern I Am, on all of the pages of the book ending with the name of a specific person. In addition there is a picture for the children to color that matches the sentence.
The children will read the following sentences. I am Harriet Tubman, I am Jackie Robinson, I am Rosa Parks, I am Thurgood Marshall, etc.The skills include concepts of print, recognizing sight words, vocabulary, punctuation, sentence structure, handwriting, and reading comprehension. Black History Comprehension Stories and the book, I Am is a great addition to your black history month resources and great way to teach your children about African-American history makers.
