Introduce your students to 25 famous African Americans with this engaging word search puzzle worksheet. The names are hidden in all directions and there may be some overlaps making this a challenging word search. A great activity for early finishers or just for something fun to take home and enjoy.
Each person is listed along with the years that they lived and their occupation, giving puzzlers the opportunity to learn information as they are searching. The worksheet comes in two versions, one with a colorful image and the other with a black outline image (good for saving a little on printing costs and giving the kids something to color in if they wish).
The 25 hidden names are: Muhammad Ali, Maya Angelou, Louis Armstrong, Benjamin Banneker, Ruby Bridges, George Washington Carver, Angela Davis, Frederick Douglass, Ella Fitzgerald, Langston Hughes, Michael Jordan, Martin Luther King Jr., Malcolm X, Thurgood Marshall, Barack Obama, Jesse Owens, Rosa Parks, Colin Powell, Jackie Robinson, Sojourner Truth, Harriet Tubman, Madam C.J. Walker, Booker T. Washington, Ida B. Wells, and Oprah Winfrey.
