I have created a series of posters for Black History Month. Each group of eight posters has a certain focus: dancers, politicians, poets/authors, etc. In my classroom, I usually focus on one group per week during Black History Month. I found this to help with organization and project ideas. I tried this last year and had a positive response from my students. They especially enjoyed learning about certain black dancers and authors that had never been introduced to them in past years.
Featured poets and authors: Maya Angelou, Gwendolyn Brooks, Paul Laurence Dunbar, Alex Haley, Langston Hughes, Zora Neale Hurston, Phillis Wheatley, and August Wilson.
Note: These posters are in color and do require quite a bit of ink. However, they can be laminated and used for years to come. Be sure to print in actual size. You might also consider printing in grayscale should you see fit.
If you like this resource, please rate and comment. As always, if you have any questions or suggestions, feel free to contact me. Thanks!:)
