Students learn about, or review, Black History Month by visiting 4 websites and answering 16 questions of varying degrees of difficulty. Answers are included where appropriate. This would work for a sub!
Sample questions include:
--Why do you think it was on college campuses that this started evolving into a month long observance?
--Why do you think the pilots who became the Tuskegee Airmen were initially referred to as an experiment, as in the “Tuskegee Experiment?”
--Why did simply sitting on a stool at a counter give McCain a feeling he didn’t think he’d ever have again?
--In your own words, what did McCain learn from making his historic decision?
--Do you think we would celebrate Black History Month if slavery were not part of American History, why or why not?
