Common Core Aligned, Black History Month and Women's History Month Biography Project resource!
The best February, March, or throughout the year writing assignment has arrived! The African American History and Women's History Biography Award Certificates are just in time for Black History and Women's History months! It is a great biography activity that can be used to honor the contributions of African Americans and women. This activity combines social studies, history, language, and technology. Students research the accomplishments of famous African Americans and American women. They use their information to create an award certificate that highlights the person's achievements and their impact on American society, culture, and history.
The package includes twelve award templates in Microsoft Word (97/2003 and 2010). The templates can also be opened in Open Office/Neo Office applications. Each template has areas for your students to add information. There is also a 13-page teacher companion with student handouts and rubrics.
I have used this activity with my students for Black History month and Women's History month with great success. I hope you enjoy using the product in your classroom.
