This is a Black History Month reading I provided my students with in my adult ESL class. I divided the story into four parts and developed questions for each with two to three vocabulary questions based on the words I felt they needed to know. Students worked in partners with Partner A reading and answering questions for reading #1 and 2, while Partner B reading and answering #3 and 4. They later discussed what they learned with each other before we took it up as a class. My students really loved the activity and found it do-able and were really happy they understood most of it without a dictionary!
