This file was created to give my students the much needed continuous extra practice in solving multi-step word problems that is a crucial skill to learn in 3rd grade. There are 15 different word problems all varying in the four operations of application (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division). Because the Common Core states that students must be able to solve these problems using pictures, words, and numbers, I have created a box for each on every word problem, so the students will follow the expectation. The student practice/assessment pages are simple for ease of printing and more focus on the students' part while solving the problems.
I am SUPER EXCITED about this file and I hope you find it just as exciting. When I searched for multi-step Black History Word Problems, I could not find any, so I made these with real facts to compliment any Black History Unit. It will take a lot of practice before my students reach mastery, but this is certainly a fun way to practice with real-life situations and facts. These practice pages/assessments will also determine further discussion needed during daily Number Talks discussions and application.
I have also created many other Common Core Practice and Assessment files that I use daily in my own classroom. As I work through the Common Core, I will continue to add new assessments and activities that correlate with each standard. Be sure to check out my 3rd Grade Common Core Study Guides All 3 Quarters - Such a Great Resource for Students and Parents, especially when you don't have a textbook. Additionally, my Associative, Commutative, and Distributive Property files have proven very helpful to many teachers, along with my Common Core Lesson Planning Forms, just to name a few TEACHER FAVORITES.
If you purchase this activity, please leave feedback. I am always interested in what fellow educators think of my activities and assessments for students. I teach third grade math and this assessment was made for immediate classroom use with my own students (laminating optional, but recommended on key pages). I hope you also find it very beneficial with the new Common Core Standards.
Thanks for checking out this assessment file. Be sure to check out the other games, charts, Ultimate Teacher Planners, and files I have created, while you are here. I have a few FREEBIES, too :)
