Students will honor distinguished women in Black History. Extraordinary women in sports, politics, and science will be celebrated, along with women of the arts, civil rights, and human rights. These are women of great respect, principle, and character who inspire excellence in us all.
This production includes a full script, cast sheet, and production notes (per scene). It comprises 7 scenes, with announcers’ introduction, a musical tribute, and a conclusion. Cast includes 16 student readers as announcers/presenters, male or female. Character portrayals follow the readings to include 7 additional female student performers, portraying the spotlighted women in Black History. This production can be utilized as a school-wide production or modified for a small group performance. Musical tribute is included in Scene 7. A student singer or “lip-syncer” can be cast for Scene 7 or a chorus group can present the musical selection as a tribute. Specific musical track is not provided. All costume choices are left to the discretion of the director.
