Product Description
The killing of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, in 2014, touched a nerve in America and launched a movement to bring attention to police shootings. In this activity, students read a summary of 5 major themes to emerge from the government's Ferguson Report -- a report that validated generations of black complaints against police and government. Students choose 2 facts from each of the 5 themes and explain how they are examples of institutionalized racism (definition provided on assignment). Fantastic for good, constructive discussion on the successes and shortcomings of the Civil Rights Movement as well as the purpose and popularity of Black Lives Matter.
