I always like to incorporate classical art into the Latin classroom whenever possible. My 8th grade middle school students read Rosemary Sutcliff's "Black Ships Before Troy" as an introduction to Homer's "Illiad." I would assign two chapters a night and require the students to answer study questions on the chapters. After class discussion the next day, I would show the art PowerPoint slideshow. As there are some naked figures involved in the works of art, each teacher needs to use his/her judgment about the appropriateness of the slideshows for his/her classroom.
