This is a Three in a Row game played in a similar way to BINGO. This set is designed for small group play led by a teacher to reinforce blending sounds into words. A teacher or other adult will read the calling cards by segmenting the sounds, instead of reading the words. Children will look for a picture to match those sounds. I have only 9 pictures on the cards so that the children are not overwhelmed with too many pictures at a time. There are 4 sets of cards, 6 cards in each set. I have split the short vowel words and pictures into 4 groups. Each group has a different color so you can keep them separate. The calling cards are also labeled by color. I have also included background pages to print on the back sides of the calling cards, if desired. Just print, laminate, and cut out, and you are ready to play. All you need is a set of chips or counters for each player. Have fun!
The object is to get 3 in a row, which usually happens quickly, so I also play until all children have a BINGO, or until the cards are full. Change it up to suit your needs.
