This set of 5 PowerPoints is a great tool for helping students learn to blend sounds and read words!! There are 5 presentations included in this zipped-file bundle, one for each short vowel.
On each slide, there are sound boxes at the top. One at a time, each letter drops into the appropriate box. Students make the sound for each letter as it appears. After all of the letters are in the sound boxes, students blend the sounds together to read the word. After they read the word, a picture depicting the word appears.
This is a very engaging, interactive tool to get the whole class involved in supported blending practice.
Each PowerPoint includes approximately 20 words; you can use the whole presentation at once, or choose a few slides for each day. For kindergarteners, I usually choose to do 5 - 7 slides a day. I have noticed a HUGE improvement in my students' ability to decode words with short vowels after using these slides. I hope you find them useful for your classroom!
