Let's talk about fluency charts!
This set of fluency charts presents beginning blends for phonics practice and assessment. With fluency charts, students are exposed to many words in a short period of time, allowing them to build phonetic fluency through repetitive reading. Teachers are able to assess which phonemes are troublesome for each student, aiding in differentiated instruction.
This set of files includes both real and nonsense word charts for each beginning blend. Nonsense words are helpful for teaching and assessing the ability to blend phonemes. While “real” words can be memorized, reading nonsense words requires students to apply decoding skills and strategies.
These charts are useful for small group work, RTI, and interventions for first graders, second graders, and advanced kindergartners.
This file contains 42 phonics fluency charts for the following beginning blends:
S Blends: sc, sk, sl, sm, sn, sp, st, sw
R Blends: br, cr, dr, fr, gr, pr, tr
L Blends: bl, cl, fl, gl, pl, sl
The charts utilize both real and nonsense words.
A recording graph and chart are also included.
