This project is a fun way to incorporate art into your world history class or to incorporate culture into art class.
Using a contemporary twist on traditional block-printing methods, each student will create beautiful and one-of-a-kind paper kite. The finished kites could be hung from a dowel rod and "flown" or simply used as decoration, to brighten up your class room.
Included in this lesson:
- A materials list and instructions for creating your own paper fish kites, from start to finish.
- A brief context of paper fish kites and their significance in Japanese culture.
- Printable templates for both the fish body and scales.
