Too often, student blog comments are noting more than "nice work" or "that's good." They lack the thoughtfulness and academic language you want to see as a teacher. This is why blog comment stems can be so powerful. They provide a support that allow students to think more deeply about the blog discourse they are using.
I have designed this resource to be flexible and easy-to-use. The following are some potential uses for the blog comment stems:
1. Photocopy this as a double-sided handout that students can use.
2. Post the comment stems on a class blog, on an LMS or on a website and encourage students to copy and paste them as they create their own blog comments
3. Blow up the comments as a poster and post it on the wall for students to access easily at any time.
4.Place the handout at a resource center and let students pick it up and use it when needed.
