Description
Understanding blood types - antigens, antibodies, and agglutination- can be really challenging for students. Use this paper modeling activity to help students "see," and therefore better understand, the blood types and who each can donate to/receive from.
The activity is separated into two parts- you'll want to spend one day having students explore ABO blood types, and make sure they have a good handle on that before moving on to Rh. The second day, you'll use the Rh models to add that lovely, extra, challenging layer- but hopefully the models help students comprehend the concept well! The third day, you'll reinforce the information with a web-based activity that explores some histology slides and also has a blood typing interactive (non-flash) game.
All answer keys are included, as well as a suggested schedule.
Low budget, low material, but HIGH quality!
See preview file for more details. This activity will take 4 class periods the first year (for model assembly purposes), but should only take 3 class periods after that.
