This is a novel study to accompany the well-written and historically accurate Blood on the River: James Town 1607 by Elisa Carbone. The book is divided into three chapter sections. Each section contains a vocabulary list, figurative language, higher order thinking questions, and a thought provoking activity. The activities include characterization, perspective, point of view, visualization etc. I have also included some suggestions for group research projects that would help students develop a deeper understanding of this time period and could be used to differentiate instruction. This novel study matches many of the common core language arts objectives. The novel study is ready to print and easy for teachers to use. I have enjoyed using it in the past and hope you find it helpful.
