I have created leveled questions for three different Fountas and Pinnell leveled books (Trouble River- level S, Bud Not Buddy- level T, and The Watsons Go To Birmingham- level U) that you or your school may have for the kids to discuss and create in a book club, small group, or independently to create a bloom ball.
Each side of the ball should represent one leveled question. The kids can answer the question using words or images. You may elect to write the questions on each side prior to copying and giving the kids the template. You may even wish to create a dodecahedron, where one question is answered on one side and the kids illustrate the question/answer on another side to create a larger Bloom Ball.
I met with each book club once a week with a reading goal. We met and discussed the leveled questions and then they independently created each side to the ball. I encouraged the kids to use as much color as possible. Once you have all the side completed, you may elect to have the kids glue or staple the sides together. Then, decorate your room and show off the deeper level thinking your students participated in while reading. I kept mine up for the remainder of the year. They loved it!
