Spring is here! This 53 page download includes 7 different activities targeting expressive language.
I Spy Barrier Game: (1 picture scene) Print two copies, laminate, and attach to a manila folder. The folder will be placed between two students, so they are not able to see what the other is looking at. They will take turns saying “I spy” and describing something in the picture.
Describing Flowers: (3 pages) Students will write one word on each petal to describe the object on the flower. (these can be laminated for use with dry erase markers or given as individual work for each student.)
Growing Flowers: Divergent Categorization: (18 cards) Students will draw a card and provide three items within the given category.
Picking Flowers: Convergent Categorization: (6 baskets + 24 cards) Spread the flowers out on the table, hand each student a basket and have them find the objects that fit in the category they have.
Get Your Tools: Level 1 Antonyms/Synonyms: (24 cards of each) Choose either antonym/synonym cards and spread them out face down on the table. Students take turn flipping cards over to find matches. The student with the most matches at the end wins the game.
If The Glove Fits: Level 2 Antonyms/Synonyms: (28 cards of each) Choose either antonym/synonym cards and spread them out face down on the table. Students take turn flipping over cards to find matches. The student with the most matches at the end wins the game.
(Matching Worksheet included for extra practice.)
Sprinkle The Seeds: Multiple meaning words: (24 puzzles) Place the puzzle pieces on the table and have students put the puzzles together with two meanings for each word.
Cut The Flowers: Compare/Contrast: (23 cards) Students will draw a card and provide similarities/differences for the two words.
Venn Diagram Compare/ Contrast Worksheets With Pictures: These can be laminated for use with dry erase markers or given for individual use. Students will write in similarities/differences between two images and share with the group.
Speedy Snail: What Doesn’t Belong: (23 cards) Students draw a card and tell which word doesn’t belong and why.
Game Board 1: Spring/Garden: Cut the game board in half. Provide each student with a game board. Use plastic game chips or duplicate the game board and cut out each square. This game is played like horse in basketball. Students cover up a letter every time they answer incorrectly. Once all the letters have been covered, they are out of the game. The student that is left at the end is the winner.
Open-ended Game Board: Use with any of the activities above.
Roll A Flower: Make enough copies for each student. Laminate all flower pieces. Cut out the pieces to the flower, then roll the die and students will begin making their flowers. The first student to complete their flower is the winner.
Hope you enjoy!
