Blooming Sight Words is a great activity to incorporate into literacy centers!! My students love building the words, and then choosing one words to create their own flower pot!
Page 1- Flower Pot- Print flower pot page on white cardstock and laminate. Students place a sight word card on the flower pot, read it, and then build the word with the flowers.
Page 2-4- Flower Letters- Print the flowers on colored cardstock or construction paper for durability. Laminate and cut out for students to use to create sight words.
Page 5- Sight Word Cards- Print on card stock. Either write desired sight words on the cards and laminate, or laminate the cards first and use a wet erase marker to write the words (this option is great for differentiating or reusing the activity with different words.
Page 6 and 7- Correlating independent work. After building several sight words, students can use this printable to build a sight word flower pot.
• First, they choose a sight word to write in the middle of the flower pot.
• Next, spell the sight word on the flowers, writing one letter per flower.
• Then, glue the sight word correctly above the flower pot and draw stems for the flowers.
• Last, decorate their flowers and flower pot!
